Comments: Even though "Bruin" wans't offically diagnosed with DM,he had manny of thr criteria. He was a mixed breed, part German Shepard & part Alaskan Malamute.Maybe that 's why the vet never offically discussed DM with us.hindsight tell me the Thyroid, irritalbe bowel, skin allergies, srcaping toenails,&stumblingwere major clues.

Comments: It is so helpful to get information on this terrible disease. I have a 9 year old wonderful female who was diagonised 2 months ago with DM. I have been giving her the medications recomended by Dr. Clemmons and purchasing them from Westlab Pharmacy. What a Godsend
that has been. She seems to be responding to the medications, I don't know what I would have done without
this site. Thank You so much - God Bless you and your
wonderful Jack Flash.

Comments: TYLER IS 11, HAS HAD DM FOR 8MONTHS AND CANNOT MOVE HIS BACK LEGS, BUT TRIES TO USE THEM IF YOU HOLD HIM UP. HE HAS HYDROTHRAPY ONCE A WEEK, 100 MILES ROUND TRIP, AND HAS BEEN ON AMINO CAPROIC ACID AND ACETYLESTEINE, AND VARIOUS VITAMINS, E C MULTI COD LIVER OIL AND GLUCOSAMINE FOR A MONTH. HE LOOKS WONDERFUL FROM THE FRONT! I THINK WE STARTED TOO LATE, DUE TO LACK OF KNOWLEDGE OF ANY TREATMENT, BUT WE WILL KEEP TRYING FOR ANOTHER 2 MONTHS OR UNTIL HE HAS HAD ENOUGH. ANY ADVICE WOULD BE WELCOME. THANX-SUE SCHWIESO

Comments: I am very glad to find your website. Our 14 year old "Lady" was diagnosed with DM on August 14, 2004. We were previously told for a few years that her condition was just arthritis. She is a Shepherd-Husky mix(and beautiful. Her symptoms have advanced very quickly. We will join your message board to further our knowledge and share our experience. Thank you for your commitment to raise awareness of DM.

Comments: Hello once again! My Boxer Joelle just turned 10 on 8/15, and she's still telling me in her boxer way that life certainly isn't over eventhough DM has changed her life. Although Jo's case has progressed within the last 6 months, she sure gets around and quickly at that! Continued pool therapy and daily 1-2 mile walks is what keeps her going. She still has that "spring" in her step as she strolls in her cart. Having to alter my life to fit hers has made me realize I have come to understand all elders and the conditions that occur. It has softened me up even more than I already am. Although I know there will be a day when the inevitable with arrive, for now, Jo is the director of how she wants to live her life. Right now, she's not ready to give up her position. This experience has brought me much closer to Joelle, and I hope it has for other DM dog owners.

Comments: I lost my VERY best friend and loyal companion to DM on Aug. 12, 2004. She lived 13 years and 2 months.I miss her so very much it. It feels like my heart is breaking. She was truly the ultimate Goodwill Ambassador. Her natural beauty and loving, playful nature always brought a smile and kind word from all who crossed her path. She is gone from our daily lives but forever in our hearts. Shadow, we will miss you and love you always. My heart goes out to anyone who must watch their beloved pet gradually become overwhelmed by this terrible disease. Thank you for an extremely helpful website. My Shadow was very regal..just like your Jack Flash.
