I am afraid he may be towards the end of the progression, as I think I missed some of the earlier signs due to his hip dysplasia he has had since he was a year old. My vet has not been very knowledgable or helpful, so I am hoping to get some advice from others who are experiencing the same thing. My Alex, a Sharpei mix was just diagnosed with DM. He is 10 and is my whole life. I started giving him vitamins, and he is on an anti inflamatory. He was just diagnosed on Saturday, so two days ago. I thought it was his hip bothering him, he is so healthy, solid muscles never had any health problems. Can anyone suggest what to do next?
